A prayer to the Holy Spirit that John Paul II recited until the end of his life

A prayer to the Holy Spirit that John Paul II recited until the end of his life

A short prayer for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, which the future pope learned from his father. It is worth starting to recite this prayer and teaching it to our children.

The Holy Spirit and his gifts

No one can reveal Jesus Christ and his message without the help of the Holy Spirit . John Paul II's encyclical "Dominum et vivificantem" speaks about this role of the Holy Spirit, irreplaceable for the Church and the world.

This role is based on seven special gifts that are capable of destroying all evil and realizing all good , if a person wants to convert his heart. These are seven gifts necessary for an "orderly" Christian life - explained Saint. John Paul II to the faithful and pilgrims during general audiences before the upcoming Feast of Pentecost. They allow us to understand "the multiplicity of gifts in Christ and in the saints."

Click on the video below and say a beautiful prayer for the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit.

John Paul II acquired this faith from his family home.
He learned the prayer to the Holy Spirit from his father as an eleven-year-old boy and since then he has been praying it every day. As Father Sławomir Oder writes in his book “Therefore Saint. The real John Paul II, about whom the postulator of the beatification process talks, kept this custom until the last days of his life.

It is worth starting to say this short prayer every day and teaching it to our children . Let them also, like little Karol, acquire the habit of asking the Holy Spirit for His seven gifts. We all received them in Holy Baptism and we are obliged to constantly renew them in order to become a "blessed child" of God.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, I am asking You
for the gift of wisdom to better know You
and Your divine perfections;
for the gift of reason to better understand
the spirit of the mysteries of the holy faith;
for the gift of knowledge
so that I can be guided by the principles of this faith in my life;
for the gift of counsel, that I may seek counsel from You in everything
and always find it from You;
for the gift of courage, so that no fear or earthly considerations
could tear me away from You;
for the gift of piety, that I may always serve
Your Majesty with filial love;
for the gift of the fear of God, that I may fear the sin
that offends You, O God.
Amen.
