In May 1917, three shepherd children - Łucja, Jacinta and Franciszek - met a beautiful Lady who told them to return to the same place on the thirteenth day of every month. They received many messages and visions from Mary , and on October 13 the "miracle of the sun" took place, which was also seen by the crowd of people gathered at the site.
The content of the apparitions and visions was surprisingly prophetic, and many believers were drawn to God through devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
