A young man with a gun approached the altar while celebrating Mass, was 'knock down' by a priest afterwards

When a church in the state of Tennessee, USA was holding a service, suddenly a young man brandished a pistol right at the altar, causing everyone to panic. Fortunately, the brave priest 'knocked' him to the ground from behind, others also helped suppress him until the police arrived.

According to the WSMV television station, the incident happened on Sunday (November 7) at a church in Nashville, the capital of Tennessee. At the time of the incident, worshipers in the church were singing hymns.

Suddenly, a young man sitting in the front row quickly stood up and pulled out a pistol. He walked up to the altar, brandished his gun at others, and told some to leave or stand up.

At this point, the priest Ezekiel Ndikumana moved cautiously, pretending to leave the church first, then slowly behind the gunman and then took the opportunity to rush forward and pin him to the ground. Several worshipers followed and rushed forward, both helping to remove the gun and helping to suppress him to the ground until police arrived.

A believer, Nzojibugami Noe, who witnessed the entire incident at the scene, said that the heroic act of priest Ndikumana reminded him of the Biblical story of David defeating the giant Goliath.

“I can only say, it is the blessing of God that strengthens our priest,” Brother Noe said. Police in Nashville identified the shooter as a 26-year-old suspect named Dezire Baganda. He is currently facing 57 serious injury charges.

Mr. Noe said the suspect Baganda was no stranger to this church. He went to church in February and interrupted the service, but hasn't appeared since November 7. Despite the terrifying incident at the church this time, Brother Noe said he did not afraid to go to church again next Sunday. Because every time he goes to church, he feels safe.

Since this incident resulted in no casualties, Brother Noe believes this is the best way to end the incident, and it is also a gift from God. “I think God gives each of us calm and no worries, just like the word of God we heard at the beginning of the ceremony,” he said.
