How serious is premarital sex?

QUESTION:
Hello Dad and the editorial team! I am 20 years old, I have had a relationship with my friend, just recently, did I go to confession after that, I am very worried whether I will be able to receive Communion after I confess? I don't know how serious the crime of premarital sex is? Please help me answer my questions.

ANSWER:

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:

Fornication is an extramarital sexual relationship between a man and a free woman. This sin is gravely contrary to human dignity and sexuality, which is naturally directed towards the interests of the spouses as well as the procreation and upbringing of children. In addition, fornication is also a very bad example when it comes to corrupting young people. (CCC 2353).

Thus, having sexual relations outside of marriage is a felony and is called fornication.

When you realize you have sinned, with sincere repentance you run to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, you will certainly be forgiven by God. Because the Sacrament of Reconciliation is instituted by God so that the penitent can receive forgiveness and be reconciled to God and the Church.

Therefore, having received the Sacrament of Reconciliation with an upright conscience, receive Communion in peace. And it is at this moment, through the Eucharist, that he encounters a great love, and it is through this encounter that he will be transformed to love God more and to be ready to shun anything that offends his love. love this.

Wish you happy.
